Protecting Girls from FGM & Early Marriages

At Future Blossoms, we are committed to safeguarding the rights and futures of young girls by tackling two deeply rooted harmful practices: Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Early Marriage.

Through community dialogues, rescue operations, and mentorship, we actively intervene to prevent early marriages. Rescued girls are enrolled in our scholarship and mentorship programs, enabling them to complete their education and build brighter futures. To shift cultural norms, we work closely with elders and morans, holding sensitization forums that emphasize the value of educating girls. Our ”Cows for Classrooms” initiative encourages families to choose school fees over dowries — empowering girls and transforming community mindsets. So far, eight girls have been rescued and placed in schools through these efforts.

To eliminate FGM, we have pioneered alternative rite of passage programs that honor cultural traditions while protecting girls from harm. These programs guide girls safely into womanhood without cutting and include education on sexual and reproductive health. We have formed strategic partnerships with former circumcisers who have renounced the practice and now champion change within their communities. Our work also includes monthly safe space dialogues for at-risk adolescents, and we collaborate closely with the Ministry of Health to promote safe, informed alternatives.

Together, these initiatives are creating a supportive environment where girls can grow, thrive, and blossom — free from violence, and full of potential.
